The Flint Journal presents:
About the project
Journal of the 20th Century was a special, yearlong project of
The Flint Journal in 1999, focusing on the Flint areas journey
through the past 10 decades, from the dawn of the automotive age
to the brink of the new millennium.
The series in print consisted of monthly special sections in the
Sunday newspaper, highlighting the news, trends and people of the
Flint area in each decade. The project concluded in December with
a look at the 1990s.
Coordinating the series were Michael J. Riha, Opinion editor; and
Jeff Johnston, assistant local news editor for Sunday.
